对医生的想法
我想当医生因为我想帮助病人。医生的工作是跟人门交谈，教他们这么防止疾病。跟人有好的关系非常重要因为医生有很多权威。如果病人对你没有信心，他们不会听取你的建议。
我要学中文是为了当好医生，能看好多的病人，也能多了解他们的文化。现代的医学文化多是为美国人舒服的。比较少的地方关心病人的文化，背景。我觉得如果我要真的看病人，给他们建议，安慰他们，一定要了解他们的文化，语言。
我希望在这门课我们会有机会跟医生，病人见面，听听他们的经验，多明白他们的看法。
Thoughts on being a doctor
I want to be a doctor because I want to help my patients. A doctor’s role involves working and talking with people, teaching them how to prevent disease. Having a good relationship with patients becomes very important because doctors have so much authority. If your patient don’t trust in you as a person, there is no way that they will follow your advice.
I want to learn Chinese in order to be a better doctor, reach out to more patients, and better understand their culture. Current medicine is centered around the culture and comfort of Western Americans. Very few places take into account the culture and background of their patients. I believe that if I want to truly care for my patients, give them advice, and console them, it is imperative to understand their culture and language.
I hope that this class will have opportunities to meet with doctors and patients in order to listen to their experiences and understand their points of view.
